LINK LIFECYCLE

URL Expiration Explained

URL expiration allows you to set a time limit or click limit on your shortened links. When a link expires, it stops working and visitors will no longer be redirected to the destination.

Why Set Expiration?

  • Time-sensitive campaigns: Expire links after a sale ends or an event concludes.
  • Security: Limit the window of opportunity for malicious actors to exploit a link.
  • Organization: Keep your link inventory clean by automatically removing old links.
  • Analytics: Focus on active links and avoid confusion from outdated ones.

Expiration Options

Our platform offers several expiration options when creating a link:

  • Never expire: The link remains active indefinitely (default).
  • 24 hours: The link expires after one day.
  • 7 days: The link expires after one week.
  • 30 days: The link expires after one month.
  • 100 clicks: The link expires after 100 total clicks.

What Happens When a Link Expires?

When a link expires, it stops redirecting to the destination. Visitors who try to access the expired link will not be redirected. You can create new links at any time to replace expired ones.
